Training Methods & Ethos
The Scottish Dog Trainer prides itself on training which is based on modern science, and as such all our advice and training techniques are based on kind, fair and reward-based methods. We adhere to the strict code of conduct as set out by the IMDT. Training takes time, commitment, consistency, and patience. Implementing any training plan is the responsibility of the owner, along with the dog’s physical and mental welfare.
The owner must recognise that the consistent role they play in the dog's learning process is integral to achieving effective results. The owner must acknowledge and agree that there is no guarantee that their dog will achieve the desired level of training, despite the best efforts of The Scottish Dog Trainer.
The owner must inform us if their dog has ever shown aggressive behavior towards dogs, other animals, or humans in any way. This must be disclosed in full before any training consultation or group class.
Health and Vaccination
All puppies must have had their first set of vaccinations to attend group class, proof must be provided. It is important to get pups in class as soon as possible as pups aged under 14/16 weeks are in a critical window of their early development and socialization is required for their future behavior.
All other dogs should be vaccinated and in general good health, if your dog has been unwell or has been in contact with another dog infected with a contagious disease such as kennel cough, please contact us directly for further advice before attending class.
